Questions

How does MealWhim choose an idea?

It picks at random from the ideas that match your filters, and skips the ones you have just seen so you don't get the same few twice. Lock an idea with the padlock to keep it while you pick again, or press Show me three to compare.

Can I trust the vegetarian and vegan tags?

The tags describe each dish as it is written here: vegetarian means no meat or fish, and vegan means no animal products at all. Shop-bought ingredients vary, though: stock cubes, curry pastes, bread, pastry and some hard cheeses made with animal rennet can all change the answer, so check the labels. Nothing is marked gluten-free or allergen-free; if you cook for an allergy, check every ingredient yourself.

Do the ideas come with recipes?

No. Each idea is a short description of a well-known dish, there to help you decide. Cook it from your favourite recipe or cookbook; the recipe scaler can resize it, and the meal planner turns its ingredients into a grocery list.

What do the cooking times mean?

They are rough totals for a typical home version, including simmering, baking, marinating or soaking. Overnight oats count as over an hour, for example, even though the work takes five minutes.
